How to Create Your Facebook (Meta) Ads Account

Validy Team6 min read

You don't need to run ads manually to use Validy, but you do need a Meta (Facebook) ad account we can deploy campaigns into. If you've never created one, the process is straightforward—usually well under an hour. Here's the shortest path that works for most founders.

1. Start with a Facebook profile

Meta ties ad accounts to real people. Use a personal Facebook account you control (your own, not a shared test login). If you don't have one, create it at facebook.com using your real name and a secure password.

Tip: Turn on two-factor authentication in Facebook settings—Meta often asks for it when managing billing or sensitive assets.

2. Open Meta Business Suite (or Business Manager)

Go to business.facebook.com and sign in with the same Facebook account. Meta will prompt you to create a business portfolio (sometimes still called a Business Manager). Follow the wizard—business name, your email, and your role are enough to start.

This portfolio is the container for your ad account, Pages, and (later) pixels.

3. Create an ad account

In Business Suite / Business Settings, look for Accounts → Ad accounts (wording may vary slightly). Choose Add → Create a new ad account. Pick a clear name (e.g. your product or company), set your timezone and currency carefully—currency usually can't be changed later—and confirm.

Meta may ask you to confirm your identity or business details depending on region; complete any prompts so the account moves out of "pending" states.

4. Add a payment method

Open Ads Manager (from the same business), go to Billing / Payment settings, and add a card or other accepted payment method. You won't be charged until you run campaigns; Validy still uses your budget choices when launching tests.

If billing fails later, campaign delivery pauses—keep this section up to date.

5. Optional but useful: a Facebook Page

Many ad formats expect a Facebook Page as the public face of the advertiser. In Business settings, under Pages, create a simple Page for your product or brand. You don't need a huge following; you need a Page Meta can attach to ads.

6. Connect Validy

In Validy, use Connect Facebook (from the Campaign tab or Settings → Accounts). Grant the requested permissions so we can create campaigns in the ad account you just made. Then pick that ad account when linking your experiment.

If you use multiple ad accounts, choose the one with the correct currency and billing for your test budget.

Troubleshooting

  • No ad accounts after OAuth — Confirm you finished ad account creation in Business settings, not only the personal profile.
  • Restricted or disabled account — Check Account Quality in Business Suite and resolve any policy flags.
  • Wrong currency — Create a new ad account in the correct currency if Meta won't allow a change.

Bottom line

Profile → Business portfolio → Ad account → Payment method → (optional) Page → Connect in Validy. Once that's done, you're ready to run structured validation campaigns without touching Ads Manager for every creative variant.
